about

Fixation With Long Journeys was quite a frustrating second record for us because it took a long time for it to be released. The Big Noise studio building had been bought and demolished by the WDA as part of Cardiff City centre's development programme and until they coughed up the compensation there was no budget to release the album.

A lot of the songs on Fixation had been written around the time of Small Pocket Machine a few years earlier but were recorded at different times in different locations. By the time it did come out we already had another albums worth of new material ready and I like to think that that I could have made an amazing third Bignoise album that had the label survived would have built on the achievements of Fixation and pushed the band into new territories but it was never meant to be.

As fate would have it the whole WDA thing effectively killed off Bignoise and regrettably for everyone we parted company with the label.

The album did have its highlights though. Radar Intruder was one of those songs that didn't feel like it would be much good until it was recorded and then we all knew it was good.

Radar opened a lot of doors for us and without it we wouldn’t have got the Peel sessions and good tours that we did.

I was a great period in our lives. We were moving forward doing what we dreamed of!
